Bicycle Shop

Bicycles are popular in Cambridge with both students and tourists. For the tourists it is an easy way to get around and see Cambridge (it is relatively flat after all and most things are condensed into a small compact central area which is generally inaccessible by motor vehicles anyway). For the student, it is not only cheap transport but there is a university regulation that forbids students to bring a motor vehicle to within a 5 mile radius of Great St Mary’s Church.

The city hosts a large number of cycle shops selling new and used bicycles and there are many cycle hire shops used by tourists. Cycling is largely safe and enjoyable in Cambridge but the wise cyclist will know and obey the laws of the road, wear a high visibility jacket, and use good lights at night. A large number of cycles means that there is significant cycle theft so always securing a bicycle before leaving it anywhere is an esential in Cambridge.
